Dear Parents and Students,
As this will be the final full newsletter I post here for the year, please let me take the opportunity to thank all students and parents for a productive year in Grade 4. It has been a privilege to watch everyone grow and develop throughout the year, and I look forward to seeing you all continue that growth in Grade 5. Don't forget to wave as you walk past your old classroom!
We still have four days of Grade 4 left, and this is what we have been doing for the past week:
We completed our final tests in Maths with a Cumulative Test and Benchmark Test. With all our tests and formal lessons out of the way, we will spend some of our time in our last few Math classes reviewing any areas we feel need attention, and for the rest of the time exploring how Maths, nature, and Art can all be connected.
In our Literacy Workshop, we completed our final lessons in grammar, and we also read a biography about a famous baseball player in New York during the early part of last century. Next week we will spend some time writing a friendly letter, and we will also watch another production of Alice in Wonderland and make further comparisons to what we have already seen and read.
In Science, we have completed our final unit dedicated to Life Science. Next week we will be reviewing Chapter 5 in our books, and reflecting on the entire unit.
In Social Studies, we have spent the week applying our map-making skills. The quality of maps created this week is very impressive, and is a good indicator of how much we have developed our skills throughout the year.
As you know, next week begins on Tuesday, and Friday will be a half-day. Some other important details are as follows:
· Thursday, 21 June - Final Assembly will be held at 1:30pm for the whole ED in the Auditorium.
· Friday, 22nd June – Lunch will be from 11:50-12:20 and unfortunately, no students will be allowed to leave during that time. Older SD siblings will need to wait for their younger siblings.
Pick up times on Friday:
· Parent pick up at 12:20pm
· Buses depart at 12:30pm
· Taxis depart at 12:35pm
I hope you all enjoy the long weekend, and I'll see you next Tuesday!
