Week 6

Dear Parents and Students,
We’ve completed another 4-day week, and we have once again managed to get a lot done in that time.
In Maths, we have all but completed Topic 3, which focuses on multiplication. We will have our final lesson and review of the topic next Wednesday, before sitting the topic test on Thursday. We will then commence Topic 4 on Friday. Topic 4 is dedicated to division.
We spent the first few days of our Literacy Workshop reading Akiak, and learning about the Iditarod race in Alaska. We have also spent some time brushing up on our grammar skills. We began a new unit in English grammar on Friday, which focuses on nouns. Next week, we wil be reading about the Titanic.
In Science, we have continued our investigations of Earth’s rapid surface changes. We will continue with this next week, with a focus on landslides. We will then turn our attention to Earth’s water and the water cycle.
In Social Studies, we reflected on our studies of natural resources before returning to our investigations climate. We will continue with our investigations next week, before preparing for our first Social Studies test, to take place in Week 8.
As you know, next week is another shortened week, as Taiwan celebrates its birthday on Monday and Tuesday. I hope you all enjoy your long weekend. As you will have learned from the post above this one, I will be away for the next two weeks. Ms. Eira is looking forward to working with you next week.
