We had several answers to our online question yesterday, all of which were correct in their own way.
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on land (the coastline of the sea), while the Mariana Trench is the lowest natural point on Earth, being almost 11 kilometres below sea level in some places. The deepest point of the Mariana Trench is Challenger Deep, at 10,916 metres (or 10.916 km) below sea level.
The lowest man-made point of Earth is the Kola Borehole. It is a hole drilled into the ground, and while it is over 40,000 feet deep (over 12 km), it is only 9 inches (23 cm) wide!
