Week 4

Dear Parents and Students,
Another busy and productive week has drawn to a close, and we already find ourselves only four school days away from the end of our first full month in Grade 4. Next week, we will be enjoying some extra activities as part of Global Awareness Week, which, of course will begin on Tuesday, after Monday's Professional Development Day.
We have completed our second topic Maths. Topic 2 was all about adding and subtracting whole numbers. There is no homework set for this weekend, but links to resources may be found in the posts below this one for anyone who would like to review subtraction further. On Tuesday, we will review Topic 2 ahead of the toic test on Wednesday. Our usual Practice and Enrichment homework tasks will be also be set on Tuesday, and will be due Wednesday.
In our Literacy Workshop, continued working on our Personal Narratives. These will be due for submission next Thursday, and we will read them aloud to the rest of the class on Friday. We will spend some time next week revising and proofreading our stories before we publish them.
We enjoyed another lab/prac assignment in Science on Wednesday, as we created and studied a model of the weathering of rocks. We followed up the prac with some book research, and we will discuss our conclusions next week. Pictures of our la/prac assignment can be seen via the link at the bottom of this post.
In Social Studies, we have continued our study of landforms. Next week, we will be moving forward to dedicate the week to studying natural resources. Our investigations will coincide with our Global Awareness project for the week, which will be all about food.
Also, as part of Global Awareness Week, please remember to wear blue next Wednesday.
