Week 10

Dear Parents and Students,
Our Halloween/Dress-up day was a big success! The performances were energetic and entertaining, and the costumes looked great. Thank you to all of the parents, family and friends who were able to make some time to come and join us on the day. Your involvement always adds to the children’s enjoyment. Some of the hundreds of pictures that were taken on the day are available via a link at the bottom of this post. You are welcome to add your own photos to the album if you wish to do so.
Even with the excitement of Halloween, we have managed to keep buy in class. In Maths, we completed Topic 5, and sat the test on Thursday. Next week we will begin studying algebra as we begin Topic 7.
We have also completed another grammar unit in our Literacy Workshop. We finished our study of nouns and will now turn our attention to verbs. We also spent time planning our Narrative Story. Next week, we will continue to draft and develop our stories, with an aim to publish next Friday.
In Science, we are exploring the many different forms of energy. This week, we investigated sound. Next week, we will focus on light energy. Of course, next Wednesday, we will go on our field trip to the Taichung Earthquake Museum.
In Social Studies, we have been studying the United States government and economy. We will continue our investigations next week.
The first quarter has drawn to a close and we may now enjoy our mid-semester break. Midterm reports were sent home yesterday (Wednesday). Please contact the office or myself if you did not receive yours. Forms are being sent home today (Thursday) to arrange parent/teacher interviews for the week beginning Monday, 13th November. Please complete the form and return it as soon as possible. Please also try to list a number of available times in order of preference. I will do my best to accommodate everybody.
I hope you all enjoy the mid-semester. I hope you get plenty of rest, and I’ll see you next Tuesday.
