I
would first like to thank all parents for making the time to come in
and see me during the week. Open communication is an integral part of
every child’s development. The parent/teacher meetings are always
insightful, and most often lead to further improvements in your
children’s academic opportunities and general wellbeing.
During
the school days, we have been busy in class. In Maths,
we
completed Topic 6 with the topic test on Tuesday. We will return to
our studies in algebra later in the year, but for the time being, we
have returned our attention to multiplication. We began Topic 7 on
Wednesday, and we will sit a test for this topic next Thursday.
In
our Literacy
Workshop,
we finally published our Narrative Stories, and we all presented them
before the class
on Thursday. Next week, we will be discussing another story, Tanya's
Reunion.
This story was assigned as homework on Wednesday, which has allowed
plenty of time for everyone to read the book at a comfortable pace.
We will begin our discussions on Monday in our new Reading Circles.
In
Science,
we have been investigating thermal energy and it's different forms.
We will review what we have learned early next week, before beginning
a new chapter about motion.
In
Social
Studies,
we have been learning about how nations and continents can be divided
into different types of regions. We will summarize what we have
studied early next week, and then we will begin to focus on the
various regions, beginning with the American Northeast.
As
always, important upcoming dates are listed below. I hope you all
enjoy a restful weekend, and I’ll see you all next Monday.
Thu, Nov 23: Math test – Topic 7
Thanksgiving Lunch
Fri, Nov 24: Monthly Assembly
Wed, Nov 29: Fun Day
Fri, Dec 1: Christmas Performance
