Dear Parents and Students,
The weather has finally begun to cool, but it hasn’t deterred
Grade 4C from working hard in the classroom. We also enjoyed a delicious
Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday. A link to photos of the day can be found at the
end of this post.
This week in Maths, we completed Topic 7, which had us
multiplying multi-digit numbers. We had the Topic Test on Thursday, and we have
already begun Topic 8, which is dedicated to division.
In our Literacy Workshop, we read Tanya's Reunion, and discussed the
story in our Reading Circles. The conversations taking place have been
very impressive, with each group learning to delve more deeply into the story
and its themes.
In Science, we have just completed our studies of energy and its various
forms. Next week, we will begin our investigations in force and motion. We have
already taken a peek at what the next chapter will be about, and so we will be
ready to go on Monday.
In Social Studies, we have started our studies of the American Northeast. We will
continue our investigations next week.
Yesterday, you should have received a notice regarding our annul
Christmas Concert, which this year will take place at the Science Park
Auditorium. Please be reminded that next Friday, 1st December, classes will be dismissed at 2:00pm instead
of 3:10 pm. Taxis and buses will be departing at this time, while parents
who usually pick up your children are asked to pick up your children at 2:15pm. Further details are included in
the notice. Please contact me if you did not receive yours.
Also next week, our Fun Day will take place next Wednesday
afternoon. Mr. Burt and the Grade 6 students have been working hard to provide
an afternoon of creative and fun-filled activities for us all to enjoy. Parents
are welcome to join us. The activities begin straight after lunch on the
athletics track behind the school.
As always, other important upcoming dates are listed below. I hope
you all enjoy a restful weekend, and I’ll see you all next Monday.
