Dear Parents and Students,
Yet
another shortened week has come to an end, but we now have three full weeks
ahead of us before the four-day week proceeding Spring Break. I hope that you
all enjoyed your 2/28 vacation. As always, we have been very busy in the 4C
classroom, and we have achieved quite a bit during the four schooldays.
In
Maths, we completed our review of Topic
13, and the topic test took place on Tuesday. Parents, please check and sign
the test and return it to school. On Thursday, we began Topic 14, which is
dedicated to area and perimeter.
In
our Literacy Workshop, we each wrote
a Tall Story, and presented it before
the class. We began revising what we know about capitalization and punctuation,
as we commenced Unit 5 in our English book. Next week, we will read a new story
– My Name Is Maria Isabel – in our
Reading books.
In
Science, we are still becoming accustomed to
scientific procedures as we study the Skills
Handbook. We have also spent some time in the Science Lab and out ‘in the
field’ making observations and collecting data. A link to photos of our
activities can be found at the bottom of this post.
In
Social Studies, we completed our
studies of the American Southeast, and held or test on Friday. Next week, we
will begin a new unit dedicated to the American Midwest.
Also,
as part of our Social Studies development, we will be visiting Grades 1, 3, and
5 as they present their World Exposition on Friday. As usual, parents and
family are welcome to attend the event. The schedule can be found below, and more details can be found in the weekly
newsletter. I hope to see you all there.
